Jeremy Furrer
Western Vice Chairman

Experience

Jeremy Furrer is a junior at Western New England College and is a political science major with a minor in English. Before attending WNEC, Jeremy was a student at Westfield State College, where he studied criminal justice before focusing on political science. At both institutions, he has taken leadership positions that have enabled him to develop strong management skills along with a friendly and open demeanor. Jeremy first became involved with College Republicans upon entering WNEC in 2007 and has been a dedicated and devoted member. He has involved himself primarily with public relations and has acted as a liaison to college officials as well as the College Democrats on campus.

As chair of the WNEC College Republican Public Relations Committee, Jeremy has recognized the need for collaborative relationships in his region. Resultantly, he has focused on establishing stronger connections between College Republican organizations in western Massachusetts. Jeremy is dedicated to preserving the unity of western Massachusetts clubs and has willingly assisted with and participated in events and has contributed to The Right View, a conservative newspaper at Smith College.

Along with his involvement in College Republicans, Jeremy has taken leadership roles throughout his college career. These positions include:
-President of the Model United Nations Club of WNEC
-Member of the Lambda Sigma Honors Society at Westfield State College
-Peer tutor in English, political science, and astronomy at WSC
-All-College Representative to Senate at WSC
-Curriculum Committee member at WSC
-Food Committee member at WSC

Vision

Western Massachusetts is a region of our state that has the most potential and needs the most attention. Throughout my term, I plan to ensure that our section of the state unites and prospers. Primarily, we need to focus on the growth of our existing clubs and forming a strong confederacy between our organizations. By taking a hands-on approach, I will get our clubs talking and working with one another more frequently. My developing relationship with members of the MACR will enable me to be a reliable representative who will be used to ensure open communication and dependable information. Beyond existing clubs, I have recognized a number of western Massachusetts campuses that have the potential to produce strong College Republican clubs. I plan to work with interested Republicans on these campuses to develop new clubs that will strengthen both our region and the MACR.

I am an enthusiastic Republican who is excited about taking on the responsibilities of western vice chairman. Our region consists of some of the most dedicated Republicans I have ever met and I look forward to interacting with the Republicans in western Massachusetts who have been working so diligently. Without our individual clubs, most of our campuses might not have a Republican voice. My goal is to ensure this voice is not lost on any campus in western Massachusetts.
